Valduno, bajo la direcci\u00f3n de <strong>D. Rogelio Estrada<\/strong>, han sacado a la luz los restos de un importante conjunto termal de \u00e9poca romana excepcionalmente conservado.<\/p><p>Las excavaciones arqueol\u00f3gicas han permitido documentar una parte del <strong>Caldarium<\/strong> y el <strong>Tepidarium<\/strong> de unas Termas de notable entidad que responden a la orientaci\u00f3n can\u00f3nica recomendada por los tratados de arquitectura romana.\u00a0<\/p><p>Destaca la excelente preservaci\u00f3n de los vestigios tanto del sistema de calor del tepidarium como de uno de los alvei o ba\u00f1eras del caldarium.<\/p><p>Esta \u00faltima, la mejor conservada de Asturias, mantiene restos de pinturas rojas sobre su revestimiento interno. <strong>Su construcci\u00f3n data de la segunda mitad del <\/strong><br \/><strong>siglo I.<\/strong><\/p><p>Sobre estos restos romanos se superpone una necr\u00f3polis de \u00e9poca Medieval y Moderna, asociada a sucesivos templos de dichos periodos que se han asentado sobre el edificio termal.<\/p><p>Las ruinas se pueden contemplar desde el exterior de la instalaci\u00f3n vallada que las Mart\u00edn de la Estaca o Andall\u00f3n<\/strong> es un yacimiento conocido desde mediados del siglo XIX, cuando fue citado en el Diccionario Hist\u00f3rico-Geogr\u00e1fico de Pascual Madoz (1845-1855). La presencia de restos arqueol\u00f3gicos en la zona ya era conocida entonces.<\/p><p>En 1958, durante la ampliaci\u00f3n de la carretera entre La Estaca y Andall\u00f3n, se localizaron restos constructivos y un <strong>mosaico romano<\/strong>, documentado por Jos\u00e9 Manuel Gonz\u00e1lez. En 1961 el arque\u00f3logo <strong>Francisco Jord\u00e1<\/strong> realiz\u00f3 una excavaci\u00f3n para extraer el pavimento y trasladarlo al Museo Arqueol\u00f3gico provincial.<\/p><p>Las investigaciones se retomaron en 2013, cuando nuevas obras permitieron localizar de nuevo el yacimiento.
