direc\u00e7\u00e3o do <strong>Sr. Rogelio Estrada<\/strong>, trouxeram \u00e0 luz os vest\u00edgios de um importante complexo termal da \u00e9poca romana, excepcionalmente bem conservado.<\/p><p>As escava\u00e7\u00f5es arqueol\u00f3gicas permitiram documentar parte do <strong>Cald\u00e1rio <\/strong>e do <strong>Tepid\u00e1rio <\/strong>de algumas Termas de dimens\u00f5es consider\u00e1veis, que correspondem \u00e0 orienta\u00e7\u00e3o can\u00f3nica preconizada pelos tratados de arquitectura romana. <\/p><p>\u00c9 not\u00e1vel a excelente preserva\u00e7\u00e3o dos vest\u00edgios quer do sistema de aquecimento do tepid\u00e1rio, quer de um dos banhos alvei ou caldarium.<\/p><p>Esta \u00faltima, a mais bem conservada das Ast\u00farias, conserva no seu revestimento interior vest\u00edgios de tinta vermelha. <strong>A sua constru\u00e7\u00e3o data da segunda metade<\/strong> <strong>do s\u00e9culo I<\/strong>.<\/p><p>Sobre estes vest\u00edgios romanos sobrep\u00f5e-se uma necr\u00f3pole dos per\u00edodos medieval e moderno, associada a sucessivos templos destes per\u00edodos que foram constru\u00eddos sobre o edif\u00edcio termal.<\/p><p>As ru\u00ednas podem ser vistas de la Estaca ou Andall\u00f3n<\/strong> \u00e9 um s\u00edtio conhecido desde meados do s\u00e9culo XIX, altura em que foi citado no Dicion\u00e1rio Hist\u00f3rico-Geogr\u00e1fico de Pascual Madoz (1845-1855). A presen\u00e7a de vest\u00edgios arqueol\u00f3gicos na zona j\u00e1 era conhecida nessa altura. <\/p><p>Em 1958, durante o alargamento da estrada entre La Estaca e Andall\u00f3n, foram encontrados vest\u00edgios de constru\u00e7\u00e3o e um <strong>mosaico romano<\/strong>, documentados por Jos\u00e9 Manuel Gonz\u00e1lez. Em 1961, o arque\u00f3logo <strong>Francisco Jord\u00e1<\/strong> realizou uma escava\u00e7\u00e3o para extrair o pavimento e transferi-lo para o Museu Arqueol\u00f3gico Provincial. <\/p><p>As investiga\u00e7\u00f5es foram retomadas em 2013, altura em que novos trabalhos permitiram voltar a localizar o local.
